Sire:
Heartbreaker
Grandsire:
Calando I
(Video
of Calando I)
This Dutch Warmblood mare was carefully selected for her
remarkable pedigree, elegant
conformation, docile temperament, exceptional movement and superb free jumping
ability. She was purchased from Team Nijhof in Holland and imported
to Canada as a yearling, in
December of 2002.
Ulanda's dam Colanda is out of one of the most well known Holstein lines,
stam 776. This family has produced some of the most famous performance
horses, broodmares and stallions of all time (Ramio Z for example). All
mares on the dams side have produced at least one or two approved sons. At
the 2004 Stallion show in Holstein Germany, 5 of 26 approved stallions were
from family 776. In 2000, Ulanda's dam Colanda produced her first
foal, the most expensive colt sold at auction in Holland that year. In 2003,
Ulanda's full sister Walanda won the breeding competition out of 150 foals.
And
in 2004, Ulanda's full brother Zidane was purchsed
by Team Nijhof as a stallion prospect. This colt was shown at the BWP
stallion show in Belgium. Ulanda's dam's sire was the legendary Holsteiner,
Calando I by Cor de la Bryere. Calando I was German show jumping Champion
under Karsten Huck in 1984. As a sire he produced many approved sons and
daughters, as well as successful performance horses. In 2003, USA Equestrian
ranked Calando I the 6th leading jumper sire in North America. Company in
the top 6 included other greats such as Ramiro Z, Concorde & Voltaire; over
1000 stallions were ranked. In 2004, Calando I was again ranked in the top
3%. Calando I is now deceased.
Ulanda's sire is the well known
Heartbreaker by the world famous "preferent" stallion Nimmerdor.
In Belgium, Heartbreaker has been leading the jumping index for the last
three years and he appears to be becoming the leading jumping and breeding
stallion of the 21st Century.
As a six and seven year old
Heartbreaker was 5th and 4th respectively at the World Championship for
young horses in Lanaken. Heartbreaker performed at 1.40
m. level with Peter Geerink. They were
3rd in Oslo and they won a Volvo at the 1997 Indoor finals of Wierden. They
also won the honor of 'Best Stallion' at the 1.40 class in Zwolle. In 1998
Heartbreaker was 3rd in the Grand Prix of Hamburg, Falsterbro and Geesteren.
In 1999 he finished 4th in the prestigious Grand Prix of Aachen and won the
‘Championat’ of Dortmund. For the last three years, Heartbreaker has
been leading the jumping indexes in Belgium and Holland with a staggering
score of 168 points. At only 14 years old Heartbreaker has already more than
10 approved sons, among them superb jumping stallions Orlando, Padinus and
Regilio. Heartbreaker has
also been awarded "Keur" predicate.
Ulanda stands 15.3+ hands.
Her first foal by Oxford was created via embryo transfer in 2003. "Evel Knievel"
received very high marks at his BWP inspection. His free jumping ability is
remarkable (see photo below) and, he is now turning heads as he begins his
career in the show ring. Ulanda has thus far produced four beautiful foals, by
four different
stallions. In 2005 she produced Femke by the Dutch Warmblood Stallion Indoctro, in 2006 Chanel,
by the Dutch Stallion
Consul, and in 2008 she produced a lovely filly by the stallion
Westporte.
Ulanda has been approved
by the BWP as a main studbook mare.
